You're invited to share your hopes, concerns and ideas in an engaging town hall discussion in your community!
Western Montana’s Glacier Country is focused on the economic sustainability of the region while preserving the quality of life for residents and quality of place for visitors. Our recently launched Destination Stewardship Plan was created from valuable resident input from our previous town hall meetings. We will share details of this plan and provide a platform to discuss challenges, opportunities and strategies for the community. With your input, we'll identify actionable ways to enhance the region’s quality of life and foster economic sustainability.

We appreciate your consideration in supporting our efforts to revitalize passenger rail in Southern Montana and beyond. A restored "North Coast Hiawatha" route means a new and needed mode of public transportation. This creates jobs and generates $ millions in benefits each year, bringing new visitors to Big Sky Country and providing locals with an affordable, safe and weather-proof transportation option year-round. Today, more than 2,000 miles from the Great Lakes to the Pacific and 800 miles from Great Falls to Denver no longer have access to passenger rail service. It’s time to provide passenger rail service to all of America.
The website contains a lot of information and updates on our efforts and our inaugural annual report is a great place to start. The Authority has grown from 12 to 20 member counties, in addition to three tribal nations, BNSF, Montana DOT and Amtrak as ex officio members.

Granite County has three county commissioners, one from each Commissioner District. The county is divided into three Commissioner Districts, each with approximately the same population. Commissioners are elected for six-year terms with one commissioner up for election every two years. Although a commissioner must be from one of the three Commissioner Districts, all registered voters in the county can vote in every election in which someone is a candidate for commissioner. (In some Montana counties, only those voters in a Commissioner District vote in that commissioner race, but in Granite County, all voters vote in every commissioner election.)
Regular commission meetings are held every Tuesday in the Commission Office on the main floor of the Granite County Courthouse. Special meetings may be called on other days for specific purposes. Agendas for all meetings are posted on the county’s website several days prior to the meeting
